Electrical terminal blocks are grouped two ways: by connection (screw, push-in, spring-clamp, IDC, pluggable) and by function (feed-through, barrier, ground, fused, disconnect, multi-level). Choose by vibration, wire size, assembly speed and protection needs — use the decision matrix below.

Most "types" come from one clamp platform: keep the body and current bar, change the face, and a feed-through becomes a ground, fused or disconnect block. That is why a single series can branch into dozens of part numbers with consistent pitch and footprint — and why you can standardize on one family instead of mixing vendors.
Certification, not just shape
Type matters, but so does the mark. For North America, look for UL Recognized (UL 1059); for the EU, IEC 60947-7-1 and often VDE. Don't over-buy certification you don't need: if you only ship to the US, UL & cUL recognition (like our File E257927) is the relevant credential.

Spring-clamp and push-in hold constant force without re-torque; for large conductors, a screw block with a ring lug and barriers also performs well.
What is the difference between a feed-through and a barrier terminal block?
Feed-through passes a conductor straight through; a barrier block adds insulating walls and lugs for higher voltage and vibration.
When should I use a fused terminal block instead of a separate fuse holder?
Use a fused block to put per-circuit protection right on the rail, saving space and wiring versus a standalone holder.
Are push-in and spring-clamp the same?
